The Fault In Our Stars
This post is about the famous novel by John Green, The Fault In Our Stars. I chose to read and blog about this book because I heard a lot about this book and finally decided to give it a go.
Hazel Grace Lancaster is a teenage girl with cancer and she unwillingly joins a cancer support group because of her mother. This is where she meets Augustus Waters, a boy who is in remission, and falls in love with him.
*WARNING : SPOILERS AHEAD*
I used about 3 separate days to finish this book. When I read the first page I was immediately shocked by Hazel's bluntness but overtime the scenes I read in this book turned humorous. Augustus, Hazel and Isaac made me laugh a lot. Even in the midst of their illnesses, they still managed to have a sense of humour.
However, it was very hard not to cry when I was reading. I can't help but admire the love Hazel and Gus had for each other even though they knew it wouldn't last. It was shocking to find out that Gus was rather the "grenade".
His state after his cancer came back and eventual death were quite hard for me to read.
After his death, I was excited to find out what Augustus wrote his letter before his untimely death.
For a book with a tragic ending, I really enjoyed reading it. I really appreciate the message this book is trying to convey. This book shows us that it is better to enjoy today and live life to the fullest.
I loved reading this book and I would recommend it for teenagers especially.
I would give it a 9/10 rating.
